Moldovan government will consider a support mechanism for the carpet industry to improve the competitiveness of the industry and increase exports of domestic carpets.
This was mentioned during the meeting the Minister of Economy Dumitru Alaiba held with representatives of carpet producers, residents of the free economic zone Ungheni-Business. As Dumitru Alaiba noted, the carpet industry is largely export-oriented. The companies with whose representatives he spoke export from 80% to 90% of their production. "It is precisely such domestic producers that we need to support and develop," stressed the Minister of Economy, noting that jobs are created at home and have a positive effect on the balance of trade. According to the Ministry of Economy, the discussions focused on the operating procedures of Free Economic Zones in the context of the European integration of our country. Also, the participants considered subjects that affect the Moldovan carpet industry, including the export potential of the Moldovan carpet-making industry and discussed possible mechanisms of support by the government, in order to increase the competitiveness. // 12.01.2023 - InfoMarket.
