
Moldova’s volume of industrial production decreased in January-September 2022 by 2.3%, compared to the same period in 2021.
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported this, without providing data in value terms. According to the agency, at the same time in September 2022, the volume of industrial production decreased by 13.4%, compared to the same month of the previous year. In general, for 9 months in 2022, compared to the same period in 2021, production volumes in the mining industry decreased by 2%, and in the processing industry - decreased by 1.6%. According to the NBS, food industry enterprises in January-September 2022, compared to the same period in 2021, increased production volumes by 25.4% in general. Beverage production increased by 9.9%, textile production - decreased by 4%. Clothing output increased by 6.8%. Tanning and leather finishing section; production of suitcases, bags, harness and saddlery; dressing and dyeing of fur increased by 11%, and in the section of wood processing and production of wood and cork products, except for furniture; production of products from straw and other plant materials for weaving it was registered an increase of 29.8%. The production of paper and paper products increased by 11.8%, while the production of chemicals and chemical products increased by 4%. The output of pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations increased by 19.3% and rubber and plastic products - by 10%. In the metallurgical industry, production decreased by 23.5%. The output of metal structures and products, except for machines, equipment and installations, decreased by 16.6%, while in the section "production of computers, electronic and optical products" the indicator increased by 17.5%. The production of electrical equipment decreased by 60%, machinery and equipment - by 16.2%, and cars, trailers and semi-trailers - by 37%, furniture - by 30.6%. In the repair, maintenance and installation of machinery and equipment section, the decline was 15.7%. Production and supply of electrical and thermal energy, gas, hot water decreased by 6.5%.
