Key Moldovan institutions from the customs and tax sectors are participating in an international training program dedicated to preparing for EU accession

In particular, to support Moldova's accession to the European Union and strengthen the administrative capacity of the authorities involved in harmonizing national legislation with European standards, representatives of the Customs Service, the Ministry of Finance, the State Tax Service, and the Bureau for European Integration are participating in the international training program PolTAC@Natolin, which is taking place at the College of Europe in Natolin (Poland). According to the Customs Service, Moldova's participation is being coordinated at a high level, and the Customs Service delegation is headed by the director of the agency, Alexandru Iacub, which reflects the strong commitment of the authorities responsible for Chapter 16 “Taxation” and Chapter 29 “Customs Union” within Cluster III “Competitiveness and Inclusive Growth” established during the EU accession negotiations. The program offers specialized training sessions on harmonizing national legislation with European legislation, best practices in the negotiation process, interdepartmental coordination mechanisms, and communication on European integration. The activities directly contribute to enhancing the capacity to transfer, implement, and monitor European legislation in strategic areas of the country's economic development. "The Customs Service has consistently demonstrated that it is an institution capable of achieving results, meeting European standards, and making a concrete contribution to national integration goals. Our active participation in this program reflects not only our commitment but also our conviction that Moldova's future lies in the European Union, and that a modern, transparent, and efficient customs administration is an integral part of this path," said Alexandru Iacub. PolTAC@Natolin is organized by the College of Europe in Natolin in partnership with the PL Solidarity Fund and is funded by the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs as part of Polish development cooperation. The project includes a series of thematic sessions held from July to December 2025 for civil servants playing a direct role in the preparation and conduct of accession negotiations. As noted by the Customs Service, the active participation of the authorities responsible for customs and taxation in this program reflects Moldova's institutional maturity and determination to irreversibly advance on the path of European integration for the benefit of its citizens, economy, and partnership with the European Union. // 08.07.2025 – InfoMarket.
