The information systems of the Moldovan Customs Service will be brought into line with EU information systems by 2030, which will require more than 508 million lei
The Ministry of Finance has developed a draft National Program for the modernization and harmonization of customs information systems with EU information systems for 2025-2030. The program was developed taking into account Moldova's tight schedule for joining the EU and the importance of mobilizing all internal resources and external assistance to bring information systems into line with EU requirements. It is noted that today the information systems of the Customs Service are not integrated with EU platforms, automation has not covered all processes, so customs clearance is carried out with delays and real-time document verification, while the technologies are outdated and do not meet modern security requirements. Furthermore, some processes have not been harmonized and customs processes have not been digitized (currently between 20% and 40%). The draft program aims to modernize customs control and risk management systems, optimize and digitize special procedures, develop the excise tax system, and create an electronic environment to bring the customs information system into line with EU requirements. Resources will also be allocated for the maintenance and modernization of physical and IT infrastructure, for strengthening the capacity of IT staff, etc. The cost of implementing the program is estimated at 508.46 million lei, part of which will be allocated from the state budget, and part is to be attracted from external assistance, international and European institutions. // 24.06.2025 — InfoMarket.
