The eKYC platform is already being developed with support from the Economic Council and the World Bank

This was announced by Nicoleta Colomeet, Director of the Electronic Governance Agency, at a meeting of the Economic Council under the Prime Minister, which discussed some aspects of the digitalization package approved by Parliament on June 19. Among the measures approved by this package is the possibility of withdrawing cash directly through POS terminals in all retail outlets, such as shops and gas stations, to facilitate financial accessibility for the population in areas without ATMs and in villages. The limit on currency repatriation by entrepreneurs has also been increased, electronic tax receipts are no longer required in printed form, and the opening of foreign currency accounts abroad has been simplified, including for online exports. The legislative changes include provisions on the activities of digital nomads in Moldova, as well as measures to facilitate remote identification of EU customers using electronic means. Nicoleta Colomeet spoke about the remote identification project, eKYC, which will enable the secure and rapid identification of both citizens and representatives of the business community, particularly banks, notaries, and government agencies. She specified that the platform is already under development with the support of the Economic Council and the World Bank. The platform will eliminate bureaucracy, save time and money for citizens and entrepreneurs, and increase trust in digital services. Nicoleta Colomeet emphasized that this tool is important not only for the financial sector, but also for other economic and social spheres, as it will facilitate access to public and private services through a single solution for remote identification and citizen services. During the discussions, First Vice-Governor of the National Bank of Moldova Petru Rotaru welcomed the legislative innovations presented and noted that banks are closely and with great interest following these changes in the digital economy. At the same time, he called on the authorities and entrepreneurs to introduce all new digital tools with the utmost caution regarding the security of personal data and the protection of sensitive customer information. // 04.07.2025 — InfoMarket
