The tender for the lease of commercial premises in the Duty Free zone of the Chisinau airport will be organized by the Invest Moldova Agency - Dorin Recean
Prime Minister said this, recalling that so far the relevant tenders have been organized by the Public Property Agency and this procedure was very unsuccessful. “We have to look at these things from another perspective: now it will be considered as an investment, and this tender for attracting foreign investors will be held by the Investment Agency. We will involve everyone, including civil society, to participate in the development of the technical task, as well as in the tender,” Dorin Recean emphasized. According to him, the Investment Agency will hold a so-called investors' conference, where all reputable companies from the region will be invited to participate and jointly adopt the tender specifications. “In this way, we will make sure that there will be no more suspicions, that the process will be transparent and that we will have more bidders,” Prime Minister said. He said the fact that only one company had participated in the tender so far had raised suspicions in the public and this necessitated a change in approach. “Since the public has said that it looks suspicious that only one company participated in the tender, we need to rethink our approach to the tender so that at least 3-4 reputable companies come and invest in the airport,” Prime Minister said. He said that he could not say exactly when the next tender for the lease of retail space at the capital's airport might be held, but noted that he wanted it to happen as soon as possible. Earlier it was reported that the last tender for the lease of unused assets at Chisinau airport for operational purposes, intended for Travel Retail & Food and Beverages activities, was canceled because only one company - Lagardère Travel Retail - applied for it. The auction for the lease of retail premises in the Duty Free zone of Chisinau airport was divided into 2 separate lots by area: one lot for Travel Retail (stores) and the other lot for Food and Beverages (restaurants). In addition, the number of airports at which bidders must demonstrate operations was reduced from 10 to 7. The lease term for facilities was extended from 3 to 5 years. The mandatory criteria have also been reworded and additional explanations have been provided, leaving no room for interpretation. // 21.11.2024 – InfoMarket
