On February 21-22, Brussels will host the first analysis of the Moldovan legislation for its compliance with the EU legislation in the field of justice and fundamental rights.
Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov announced this, summarizing the results of the visit of the Moldovan governmental delegation to Brussels. She noted that the first stage of the technical work on Moldova's accession to the European Union was launched on 7 February, and now Moldova has the deepest and closest relations with the EU in Moldova's modern history. This stage represents the first practical step in the implementation of the historic decision of the European Council taken in December 2023 - the assessment of national legislation against EU legislation is a long process that requires efforts and specialized expertise in very specific areas divided into 33 chapters. "On February 21-22, we return to Brussels - for the first analysis of EU legislation in the field of justice and fundamental rights. The first chapter we start our assessment is justice. This is where accession negotiations begin and end. The purification of the judiciary, the existence of the rule of law, determines how quickly we will move closer to the EU. Because a European state is a state in which the judicial system works, i.e. no one is above the law and the rules are the same for everyone. This is what we wish for a European Moldova," Cristina Gherasimov said. She called on all those who have the necessary experience and desire to contribute to the EU accession process to apply for the vacant posts when they are announced. "Joining the European Union, integration into the big family of peace, democracy and freedom is a national goal," Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration said. // 09.02.2024 - InfoMarket
