Over 2.4 million Moldovans have benefited from the visa free regime for Moldovan citizens over the 9 years since it had been launched.

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicu Popescu said that today marks the 9th anniversary of the visa free travels for Moldovan citizens within the EU. The chief of the Moldovan diplomacy delivered a speech on this occasion, noting that more over 2.4 million Moldovan citizens have traveled to the European area over this period, being able to meet friends and families or to visit tourist destinations in different European countries. According to him, at the same time, the liberalized visa regime opened new opportunities for exchange of experience, knowledge and personal development and strengthened interpersonal, cultural and social ties between Moldova and the European Union. "The liberalization of the visa regime with the EU was one of the important steps on the path to EU accession. In the future we will remain firmly committed to Moldova's reform and modernization process to ensure sustainable development so that our country becomes a full member of the EU as soon as possible," Nicu Popescu said. // 28.04.2023 – InfoMarket
