During a press conference on Thursday, Minister of Finance Dumitru Budianschi said that in total, 46.8 million lei were received to the account for collecting funds for humanitarian assistance to refugees from Ukraine, of which 35.1 million lei were used to maintain 45 temporary refugee accommodation centers and to unblock the state reserve to provide Ukrainian citizens with basic necessities and food. In particular, 19.2 million lei were received in national currency (almost 3.7 thousand individuals transferred 4.9 million lei in lei, and 339 legal entities - 14.4 million lei), the rest was transferred in foreign currency by 198 individuals and 13 legal entities - 912 thousand euros (including 873 thousand euros - legal entities) and $493 thousand (including $446 thousand - legal entities). Thus, to date, 200 million lei allocated from the state budget and 35.1 million lei from donations from individuals and legal entities have been used to support refugees. Budianschi noted that due to the introduction of a special code in the budget classification, full traceability of receipts and expenditures for assistance to refugees will be ensured. Government Secretary General Dumitru Udrea said that as of March 24, there were about 100,000 citizens in Moldova who arrived from Ukraine after the start of the war, including 49,000 children. 4.1 thousand refugees are accommodated in 106 temporary accommodation centers, more than 4.3 thousand more places are available. According to him, 8,000 children, including 2,500 children of preschool age, were registered in educational institutions, while more than 1,400 children were enrolled in studies. Dumitru Udrea informed that during this time, 221 batches of humanitarian aid have arrived in Moldova to provide assistance to Ukrainian refugees, 70% of them for the benefit of civil society and international organizations. The assistance received through the Ministry of Labor is stored in a warehouse in Vatra and subsequently distributed, at the request of local authorities and temporary accommodation centers. At the same time, assistance worth 6.6 million euros was delivered to Moldova through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism to manage the flow of Ukrainian refugees.
