By the end of 2021 Moldova, expects to receive the first $78.3 million tranche from the IMF under the new program of economic reforms.
This is stated in the materials of the Ministry of Finance to the amendments to the Law on the State Budget for 2021 approved by the government. They stipulate that one of the sources of covering the country's budget deficit this year will be the receipt of the first tranche of 1 billion 395.9 million lei (equivalent to $78.3 million) as part of a new program of economic reforms, supported by the International Monetary Fund. As InfoMarket reported earlier, the IMF Mission and the Moldovan authorities reached an agreement at the expert level on a program of economic reforms lasting 40 months, estimated at about $ 564 million, which the IMF will support through the Extended Credit Facility (ECF) and the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) during 3 years. The expert-level agreement must be approved by the IMF management and the Fund's Executive Board. The IMF's Executive Board is expected to consider the IMF Mission's report in December if several preliminary measures are implemented, including measures to ensure the independence of the National Bank, correct past mistakes in advancing policies, and adopt credible budget plans. Moldova's new program with the IMF aims to support economic recovery and launch an ambitious program of governance and institutional reforms. // 11.11.2021 – InfoMarket
