The Cabinet of Ministers supported the bill providing that the heads of the State Tax Service and the Customs Service will be appointed and dismissed by the government.

In particular, at a meeting on Wednesday, the Cabinet of Ministers gave a positive opinion on the relevant bill, which the parliament had already passed earlier in the first reading. We are talking about amending the Tax Code and the Law on public office and the status of civil servants, which provide that the director of the State Tax Service and the Director of the Customs Service will be appointed and dismissed by the government at the proposal of the Minister of Finance. The proposed amendments are aimed at achieving the goals set in the government's program of work in the tax and customs sphere, which requires the organization and strategic planning, development and approval of relevant policy documents and close cooperation of the responsible institutions with the government. According to the authors of the initiative, the proposed changes will ensure a unified approach and a unified policy in action, establish a direct dialogue between the government and the heads (directors) of the structural units of the Ministry of Finance - the State Tax Service and the Customs Service. The government supported the relevant amendments to the legislation, noting that they comply with the provisions on the status of persons performing responsible public office, according to which a responsible public office is a public office held by virtue of a mandate obtained directly as a result of elections, or, indirectly, by appointment in accordance with the law.// 15.09.2021 — InfoMarket
