Moldovan government is studying a number of actions to support the economy and citizens during the pandemic, in particular, to remove restrictions on entrepreneurship and support enterprises.

The press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported this, noting that this was discussed during a meeting that Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita held with the heads of the working groups of the Economic Council under the Prime Minister, at which there were discussed projects of initiatives to eliminate restrictions in business and support enterprises during the pandemic. According to Prime Minister, the government will support effective initiatives that will help the economic environment and society as a whole. “The government is now working on a number of actions to support the economy, preserve jobs and ensure social protection of citizens. We will offer subsidies for reduced employee hours and increased access to working capital for companies. Solutions are also needed for public and intercity transport, where the largest foci of infection are located. Together with you, we will analyze the most affected areas and propose targeted measures by sector and policy proposals that will help these sectors remain competitive,” said Natalia Gavrilita. The leaders of 7 working groups presented proposals on their areas of competence. So, they talked about legislative changes related to the digitization of the economy, the harmonization of national legislation with the European legislation on personal data, and the improvement of the legal framework in the field of competition. At the same time, it was proposed to rethink the function of control bodies, focusing on prevention and advising entrepreneurs on legislation. Economic initiatives have also been launched to facilitate cross-border trade under the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA). Participants also considered a number of options for promoting technological innovation in various sectors of the economy, such as providing a minimum set of documents in electronic format without the need to be physically present when receiving documents. In this regard, it was decided to organize a working meeting with the involved structures to agree on the necessary actions. “We are ready to offer government assistance, develop a bold policy to stimulate market demand, economic activity and help vulnerable segments of the population. We need to contain the pandemic this fall and reduce its impact on families and businesses. For a week, please suggest specific actions, systematized in different directions. It is important to rely on thoughtful analysis and to strengthen the potential of the state,” concluded Prime Minister. // 03.09.2021 - InfoMarket.
