The Moldovan authorities do not plan to privatize Moldtelecom, but want to attract investments for its more efficient development

This was stated by the director of the Public Property Agency, Roman Cojuhari, answering questions from parliament deputies. He noted that Moldtelecom is not on the list of state objects subject to privatization, but its non-inclusion in this list does not mean the process of its denationalization. “Its privatization is not being discussed today, but it is clear that investments need to be attracted and this enterprise needs to be developed, and the government is making every effort in this direction,” said Roman Cojuhari. In turn, the chairman of the parliamentary commission on economy, budget and finance, Radu Marian, also emphasized that Moldtelecom remains state property, but investments and investors need to be attracted to develop this enterprise. Moldtelecom is a national fixed-line telephone operator. The company also provides mobile communication services under the Unite brand, Internet and television access services. 100% of the company's shares belong to the state. It was previously reported that the net profit of Moldtelecom in the first quarter of 2024 amounted to 81.1 million lei, which is its highest level in the last 13 years.// 11.07.2024 — InfoMarket.
