Mobile operators from Moldova and EU countries, in order to reduce roaming tariffs, have agreed on the maximum limits of retail price limitation, calculated for 2 phases: January 1, 2024 and January 1, 2025.

The National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology reported this, noting that the mobile operators of our country, as well as the EU and European Economic Area (EEA) countries, which earlier signed a joint declaration on the reduction of roaming charges, have agreed on the maximum limits of retail prices for data and call roaming services, confirming the commitments made earlier. They signed the documents at a ceremony attended by representatives of BEREC (Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications), ANRCETI, the Government and the European Commission. Thus, the next important step was taken to ensure lower roaming tariffs between Moldova and EU/EEA countries. The successful completion of this stage was ensured by the coordination of the negotiation process between BEREC and ANRCETI. According to the joint declaration signed on May 31, 2023 between Moldovan and EU/EEA operators, the new roaming tariffs will enter into force on January 1, 2024. So far, all Moldovan and 4 EU operators have signed the declaration, but the document remains open for signature by other EU/EEA operators. The declaration will be valid until December 31, 2025 and may be extended beyond that date. The joint statement reads that BEREC will act as an independent third party to enforce the agreement between operators. Thus, starting in June 2023, the co-chairs of BEREC Roaming analyzed the data received from operators and set sliding levels for retail voice and data roaming services between signatories, with the assistance of ANRCETI. Today, the operators committed to significantly reduce retail roaming prices by agreeing on the following maximum tariffs for end-user services: Data transmission: from January 1 to December 31, 2024 - 15 euros per GB, from January 1 to December 31, 2025 - 10 euros per Gb, outgoing calls are 0.33 euros and 0.24 euros per minute, respectively, received calls are 0.25 euros and 0.16 euros per minute, respectively. The lower roaming rates will make communication easier and allow users to stay in touch with friends, family and business partners even when abroad. // 22.09.2023 - InfoMarket.
