The NBM invites the IT community as well as banking and financial specialists to participate in the implementation of major projects for the payment infrastructure: Instant payments and Open banking.
This was stated by the Vice-President of the National Bank Arcadie Albul at the largest technological hackathon this year, DeepTech GigaHack, which took place this weekend in Digital Park. He noted that the National Bank is moving forward in the field of financial technologies, focusing on their accessibility to the general public. “The economy and citizens need affordable, secure and convenient payments. This requires new technologies and openness to progress. The NBM is working tirelessly on this priority, and instant payments and open banking are two fundamental projects of the payment infrastructure. We invite the financial and banking industry and the IT community to join us in order to improve the quality of the financial services offer in Moldova,” said Arcadie Albul. DeepTech GigaHack is a unique platform for IT professionals and the opportunity to develop solutions under the guidance of mentors that are applicable both in the domestic and international markets. In the Fintech solutions section, the participants had to implement a number of tasks: making P2P money transfers and ensuring the functionality of the request for payment within the instant payment system, as well as using Open Banking for a more detailed credit assessment and effective cash management solutions for small and medium business. It is worth noting that in the FinTech Challenge by National Bank of Moldova category at the hackathon, the winner was a project developed by the GigaOcco Team, which received a cash prize of 40 thousand lei. The NBM noted that in accordance with global trends in the field of financial technologies, the National Bank continues to work on key elements of modernizing the payment infrastructure. This includes not only technological advances, but also risk management strategies that allow us to provide citizens with secure and modern payment solutions. DeepTech GigaHack is organized by Technovator and Digital Park under the auspices of the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization and with the support of the Future Technologies (FTA) project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Sweden and the United Kingdom, and the Western NIS Enterprise Fund (WNISEF). // 11.09.2023 — InfoMarket.
