The term of operation of Moldova IT Park may increase and types of activities of the residents may expand.
According to the draft amendments to the Law on Information Technology Parks, the term of operation of the Park is to be increased from 10 to 20 years. The increase of the term of operation of Moldova IT Park will ensure stability and predictability for the residents, will promote the growth of investments and creation of jobs, and will ensure its competitiveness. For comparison, in Belarus the IT Park was established for the period until 2049, and in Ukraine the tax privileges were granted for a period of 25 years. At the same time, it has been proposed to include film production, post-production - digital color correction and restoration services; editing and design services, sound recording services, as well as design of industrial and production facilities - among the main activities carried out in the park. These types of activities are absent or represented minimally on the Moldovan market. Moldova IT Park will allow creating attractive conditions for such production. The bill should be approved by the Parliament of the country. It is worth noting that at the end of 2021 there were 182 residents in Moldova IT Park, including 27 residents with investments from the USA, 23 from Romania, 16 from Germany, 14 from Italy and 13 from Great Britain. Revenues of the residents of the park amounted to 6.88 billion lei, and the share of the IT industry in the country's GDP grew from 1.5% in 2016 to 3.6% in 2020. Park residents transferred 730 million lei to the state budget in 2021, and the share of IT-services exports accounted for 11% of Moldovan exports. The number of employees in Moldova IT Park resident enterprises amounted to 15.1 thousand people. // 19.08.2022- InfoMarket.
