Moldova will simplify the registration procedure for veterinary medicines.
This is provided for by a bill to amend the legislation aimed at providing the local market with quality veterinary medicines. The draft has received a positive opinion of the government and is being considered by parliamentary commissions. The bill amends the Law on Veterinary medicines to simplify the registration procedure for such medicines without affecting the minimum quality and safety requirements. It expands the conceptual apparatus - the holder of the certificate of registration of a veterinary drug may be an inventor, manufacturer or other authorized legal entity responsible for the efficacy, quality and safety of the drug. Another provision relates to the legal conditions for economic activities in the production, wholesale and retail sale of veterinary medicines, as well as the duties and powers of the National Agency for Food Safety in these areas. Among the provisions of the draft is the prohibition of electronic wholesale and retail trade in veterinary drugs, the purchase of which requires a veterinary prescription. At the same time, the draft allows the import of unregistered veterinary drugs if they will be used as samples at the registration stage, for preclinical studies, bioequivalence studies, clinical trials and as materials for presentations at exhibitions, congresses, conferences or symposiums. It is proposed to amend the Law on Regulation by business authorization, in order to replace the certificate of registration of pharmaceuticals for veterinary use with a certificate of registration of a veterinary drug and to establish an unlimited period of validity. At the same time, it is provided that the veterinary drug registration certificate shall lose its validity if the drug is not imported, not manufactured or not present on the market within 3 years from the date of issuance of the document. //23.06.2022 - InfoMarket.
