
Moldova: Total sales of cell phone providers in 2021, compared to 2020, decreased by 0.9% to 2 billion 899.1 million lei.
According to the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI), revenues of Moldtelecom (Unite) from mobile services increased last year by 17.5% to 222.3 million lei, while sales of Moldcell and Orange Moldova decreased by 3.9% and by 1.4%, respectively, to 832.1 million and 1 billion 834.6 million lei. According to ANRCETI, the market shares of the 3 mobile operators in terms of sales as of the end of 2021 were as follows: Orange Moldova - 63.5%, Moldcell - 28.8% and Moldtelecom - 7.7%. In 2021 revenues on the retail market from postpaid sales were about 79.3% (+0.8% to 2020) and revenues from prepaid card sales were about 20.7% (-0.8%). The average monthly revenue per cell phone user (ARPU) in 2021 decreased, compared to 2020, by 6.1% and amounted to 66.4 lei. Specifically, ARPU for Orange Moldova was 73.4 lei, for Moldtelecom - 59.8 lei, and for Moldcell - 56.4 lei. In 2021, ARPU from services rendered to individuals decreased by 6.9% compared to 2020 and amounted to 55.7 lei, while ARPU from services rendered to legal entities increased by 0.7% and amounted to 103 lei. The total number of users of mobile telephony services in Moldova in 2021 increased by approximately 598 thousand (14.6%) and amounted to 4.7 million. At the same time, the subscriber base of Orange Moldova in 2021 compared to 2020, increased by 6.6% (150.2 thousand) and amounted to 2 million 438.4 million. The number of Moldcell subscribers increased by 22.6% (307.9 thousand) to 1 million 688.2 thousand, and the number of Moldtelecom-Unite subscribers increased by 30.4% (139.6 thousand) to 599.4 thousand. // 05.05.2022 – InfoMarket
