In the transition to a digital economy, an important advantage is the developed IT industry of Moldova, whose contribution to the formation of GDP is 3.5% - Sergiu Gaibu.

The Minister of Economy stated this at a press club meeting dedicated to digital transformation. During the event, journalists were presented with the most important aspects in the field of modernizing the economy through the use of technology and digital innovation. Among them are measures and acts adopted by the government and parliaments aimed at stimulating the economy, developing electronic commerce, reducing bureaucracy in relations between the state and entrepreneurs, reducing the number of documents requested by the authorities, etc. Minister of Economy Sergiu Gaibu listed the priorities of his department for the near future. “The actions taken by the government, including the digital legislative package 1.0, open up opportunities for the digitalization of society. Economic agents already have the opportunity to remotely register and manage their business, and in labor relations they no longer need to present documents with a holographic signature. The key advantage of our country in the transition to a digital economy is a well-developed IT industry, whose contribution to the formation of GDP is already 3.5%, and which has been growing rapidly in recent years,” Gaibu said, stressing that the volume of the IT industry in Moldova has grown in 2020 by 10% - up to 7.3 billion lei, and the export of IT products exceeded $258 million. According to him, the department is working on other areas, such as supporting start-ups and innovations, developing e-commerce. Deputy Prime Minister for Digitalization Iurie Turcanu noted that the package of laws “on digitalization”, developed with the participation of specialists from state institutions, business associations and private experts, will become a revolution in relations between the state and business. “Some government measures that were considered excessive in relation to the business environment were eliminated, improved, optimized and technologized. These transformations also affected citizens from the Diaspora, for whom online communication is the safest, most accessible and efficient way to connect with their homeland,” Turcanu said. In turn, Olga Tumuruc, Director of the Electronic Governance Agency, spoke about the main areas that the agency is working on: the launch of the state service of electronic delivery MDelivery, the new mobile digital signature MobiSign, the new platform for electronic access to some public services, remote authorities and other digital solutions - all of them will contribute to creating a favorable business environment and simplifying the interaction of business and citizens with the state. She urged business representatives to use the State Portal for Citizens and Entrepreneurs (MCabinet), assuring that entrepreneurs can be confident in the data processed on this portal, as well as in the security of access to them - through electronic keys. // 17.01.2022 – InfoMarket
