The draft document was discussed the day before with strategic partners at a meeting held under the auspices of Deputy Prime Minister for Digitalization Iurie Turcanu. The Strategy was developed by a group of experts in digital governance, with the support of the UNDP in Moldova. It aims at developing an innovative and inclusive digital society, based on modern infrastructure with a prepared digital society, at transforming public services, which use all digital advantages, etc. The Strategy is focused on several priorities: development of a digital society, strong, innovative and competitive and reliable digital ICT environment, digital services that contribute to the development of a digital functional state, international cooperation and promotion of digital Moldova, development of digital economy. The draft Strategy defines the vision, mission, goals and policy priorities in accordance with the global trends of the digital era and the changes taking place in the regional and international socio-political environment. As Iurie Turcanu noted, it is necessary to carry out a radical transformation in the most vital areas of state power to ensure irreversible digital changes for the benefit of citizens, businesses, state institutions, and the entire society. He stressed that since the beginning of the development of the document two turning points have occurred - the war in Ukraine and the EU candidate country status received by Moldova, and in the new context digital transformation is an absolute necessity. The Strategy is expected to be used as a roadmap for the development of the digital society until 2030, with a focus on citizens and modernization of interaction with state institutions.
