
Spain ranks 9th on the list of Moldova's largest trading partners in the EU, and in 2024, bilateral trade volume decreased by 4% to $168.9 million
The Ministry of Economic Development reported this, citing data from the National Bureau of Statistics, noting that Spain ranked 14th among Moldova's trading partners in the world last year and 9th among European Union countries. Compared to 2023, the volume of trade between Moldova and Spain decreased by 4% to $168.9 million and accounted for 1.3% of our country's total trade. In particular, in 2024, Moldovan exports to Spain reached $24.3 million, and the main exported products were: sunflower oil – $14.3 million; fruit juices – $3 million; bottles and jars – $1.2 million; wires and cables – $1.1 million; grapes – $0.7 million. In addition, Moldova exported wooden barrels and vats ($0.39 million), undenatured ethyl alcohol ($0.33 million), carpentry products ($0.27 million), and various types of labels ($0.25 million) to Spain. In turn, Moldova imports pork, medicines, frozen fish, cars, and other vehicles from Spain. According to the Public Services Agency, there are 54 companies with Spanish capital operating in Moldova, with a total investment in authorized capital of 427.3 million lei. In terms of invested capital, Spain ranks 12th among Moldova's main investors.
