In 2023, exports of services will exceed 40% of Moldova's total exports for the first time.
Veaceslav Ioniţă, expert in economic policy at the Institute for Development and Social Initiatives (IDIS), Viitorul, voiced this forecast, noting that total exports in 2021 amounted to $4.8 billion, in 2022 - $6.6 billion, and in 2023 - $6.7 billion is planned. In his opinion, it is the IT services sector and the business services sector, which will grow to $820 million this year, that will increase exports. In general, Moldovan exports will grow slightly, but only in the service sector. Veaceslav Ionita also noted that since 2010 more services have been exported in Moldova than they are imported. In 2023, it is assumed that the trade surplus will be $1.3 billion: $2.8 billion - exports of services and $1.6 billion - imports of services. All that the authorities need to do, according to Ionita, is to develop the two above-mentioned service sectors, which ensure the growth of Moldovan exports, the growth of jobs in the country and higher wages than the national average. // 11.08.2023 - InfoMarket.
