The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported that exports of domestic goods in the first 5 months of 2023 amounted to $1 billion 162.2 million (67.4% of the total volume), down 19.6% compared to the same period of the previous year. At the same time, re-exports of foreign goods in January-May 2023 totaled $563.3 million (32.6% of the total volume), up 30.9% from the same period in 2022. At the same time, re-exports of post-processed goods (clothing, shoes, shoe parts, chairs, electrical wiring and cables, other auto industry products, peeled nuts, chairs and other furniture, suitcases, textile products, toys, etc.) accounted for 12.9% of total exports, while classic re-exports of foreign goods (gasoline, diesel fuel, vehicles, nuts, medicines, sunflower oil, sunflower seeds, cigarettes, wine distillates, whiskey, gin, vodka, liqueurs, beer, fabrics, knitted goods, essential oils, perfumes and cosmetics, travel and sports bags, backpacks, wristwatches and other watches, corn) accounted for 19.7%. According to the NBS data, for exporting goods abroad during the mentioned period the most frequently used means of transportation were motor transport - 80.1% of the total volume, followed by maritime transport - 14.5%, railway transport - 3.1%, air transport - 1.2%, fixed transport units (1%), self-propelled exports (0.1%). Overall, Moldovan exports to the European Union in January-May 2023, compared to the same period of 2022, decreased by 12.5% - to $1 billion 056.9 million, to CIS countries - increased by 52.7% - to $435.2 million, and to other countries - decreased by 38.8% - to $233.4 million. The share of EU countries in the total volume of Moldovan exports during the mentioned period decreased from 64.46% to 61.25%, the share of CIS countries - increased from 15.2% to 25.22%, and the share of non-EU and CIS countries decreased from 20.34% - to 13.53%. At the same time, the growth of Moldovan exports to the CIS was conditioned by the increase in supplies of goods to Ukraine by $140.4 million, or 1.9 times as compared to January-May 2022. According to the NBS data, the main countries of destination of Moldovan exports in the reporting period were: Romania (32% of the total volume of Moldovan exports), Ukraine (17.3%, or by 8.9 p. p. more than in January-May 2022), Italy (6.4%), Germany (5.4%), Turkey (4%), Russia (3.9%), Czech Republic (3.8%), Poland (2.6%), Belarus (2.3%), Spain (2.1%), USA (1.4%), Bulgaria and Cyprus (1.3% each), Hungary, Lebanon, France (1.2% each), Kazakhstan (1.1%), Great Britain (1%), and the Netherlands, Switzerland and Greece (0.9% each), Egypt (0.7%), Lithuania (0.6%). At the same time, in the first 5 months of 2023, compared to the same period of 2022, Moldova increased exports to Ukraine (1.9 times), Czech Republic (1.6 times), Spain (2.6 times), Belarus (+59.7%), Kazakhstan (4.2 times), Cyprus (1.9 times), USA (+40.1%), Egypt (2.3 times), Lebanon (+39.7%), UAE (5.5 times), Lithuania (2.4 times), Kyrgyzstan (9.7 times), Croatia (4.4 times), Georgia (+45.4%), Indonesia (7.2 times), Morocco (7.4 times), Azerbaijan (2 times), Libya (23.4 times), Armenia (2.7 times), Hong Kong (3.8 times), Slovakia (+21%), Saudi Arabia (+27.2%). At the same time, during the mentioned period Moldova reduced exports to Turkey (-59.9%), Italy (-37%), Bulgaria (-74.7%), Switzerland (-71.5%), Russia (-27.7%), Netherlands (-61.9%), Romania (-3.3%), Great Britain (-45, 7%), Germany (-13,3%), Portugal (-97%), Poland (-14%), Austria (-41,8%), Greece (-19,4%), Jordan (-95,9%), Belgium (-25,2%), Iraq (-40,9%), Tunisia (-96,7%), South Korea (-85,4%), Albania (-82,5%), Hungary (-4%). In the structure of Moldovan exports in January-May 2023 the following groups of goods had the most significant shares: electrical machinery and apparatus and their parts (15.3%); oil, oil products and related products (13.1%); cereals and preparations based on them (9.7%); vegetable fats and oils (8%); vegetables and fruits (7.6%); clothing and accessories (6.9%); alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages (4.8%); oil seeds and fruits (4.4%); furniture and parts thereof (3.5%); nonmetallic mineral products (2.9%), motor vehicles (2.1%); yarn, fabrics, textiles and related products (2.1%). //17.07.2023 - InfoMarket.
