
Imports to Moldova in January-April 2023, compared to the same period in 2022, increased by 6.7%, amounting to $2 billion 997.5 million.

Sea transport accounted for 7.8% of total imports, rail transport - 5.2%, air transport - 1.6%, self-propelled imports - 0.8%, postal items - 0.1%, and the share of fixed transport installations (gas pipelines, power grids) - 10.5% of total imports. In particular, the volume of imports to Moldova of products from the EU countries in January-April 2023, compared to the same period in 2022, increased by 16.3% - up to $ 1 billion 444.6 million, from the CIS countries - decreased by 20.4% - to $666.3 million. Import of goods from other countries increased by 21.3% - up to $886.6 million. The share of EU countries in the total volume of Moldovan imports increased from 44.2% to 48.19%, the share of CIS countries - decreased from 29.79% to 22.23%, and the share of other states - increased from 26.01% to 29.58%. In the TOP countries, which accounted for the largest volumes of Moldovan imports in the first 4 months of 2023, included: Romania (15.7% of total imports), Ukraine (13.5%), China (9.8%), Turkey (8.3%), Germany (6.5%), Russia (5.4%), Italy (5%), Poland (3.2%), France (2.8%), Hungary (2.3%), Greece and India (2.1% each), Bulgaria (1.9%), Czech Republic (1.5%), Kazakhstan, USA and Spain (1.4% each), Austria (1.1%), the Netherlands and Belarus (1% each), Japan and Slovakia (0.9% each), UK (0.8%), Belgium (0.7%). An analysis of the evolution of imports by country in January-April 2023, compared to the same period in 2022, shows an increase in imports to Moldova from Romania (+21.9%), Ukraine (1.8 times), Turkey (+29.7%), Greece (5.3 times), China (+17.4%), Kazakhstan (7.2 times), Bulgaria (+54%), India (+29.9%), Slovakia (1.8 times), Japan (1.8 times), Israel (2.5 times), France (+7.9%), Germany (+3.2%), Azerbaijan (1.8 times ), Georgia (7.1 times higher), Belgium (+30.4%), Vietnam (+36.4%), Czech Republic (+10.1%), Ecuador (+46.3%), Egypt (in 2.7 times), Austria (+12.6%), Hungary (+5.3%), Turkmenistan (1.8 times), Portugal (+38.1%), Poland (+3%), Bangladesh (1.7 times), Great Britain (+9.5%). At the same time, volumes of imports to Moldova decreased from Russia (-69.9%), the USA (-19.8%), Belarus (-24.4%), South Korea (-22.8%), Uzbekistan (-46.7%), Pakistan (-40.9%), Kyrgyzstan (-61.6%). In the structure of imports for the first 4 months in 2023, the following groups of goods occupied significant shares: oil, oil products and related products (16.5%); gas and industrial products derived from gas (10.3%); electrical machinery and equipment and their parts (6.8%); motor vehicles (6%); medicinal and pharmaceutical products (3.4%); yarn, fabrics, textiles and related products (3.3%), vegetables and fruits (2.9%); mineral or chemical fertilizers (2.6%); industrial machines and apparatus for general purposes; parts and spare parts for these machines (2.4%); specialized machines and devices for specific industries (2.3%); apparatus and equipment for telecommunications and for recording and reproducing sound and images (2.2%); clothing and accessories (2.1%); cereals and products of their processing (2%). // 15.06.2023 — InfoMarket
