The Moldovan Ministry of Agriculture is launching a new financial instrument designed to provide farmers with the necessary liquidity for seasonal work

Specifically, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry announced that the Agricultural Credit Program (FCA) has launched the "Agricultural Working Capital" component, which provides loans on preferential terms to cover current expenses. As noted by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture, Sergiu Gherciu, the new financing line was designed to reduce financial pressure on farmers by offering loan prices significantly below the market average. Farmers can receive financial resources under the following terms: maximum amount – up to 500,000 lei per beneficiary; fixed interest rate – 5.1% per annum; repayment term – up to 5 years. These funds can be used to purchase seeds, fertilizers, diesel fuel, or other urgent needs related to technological processes on farms. To receive support, farmers can apply directly to commercial banks and financial institutions participating in the program, including those with existing active accounts. The process is designed to be as efficient as possible, facilitating access to funds during critical periods of agricultural campaigns. The "Agricultural Working Capital" component is the result of collaboration between the Ministry of Agriculture and the Office for the Management of Foreign Assistance Programs and represents a confirmation of the government's commitment to supporting the economic sustainability of the agricultural sector. The Agricultural Credit Program (FCA) was launched in March 2025. The maximum amount available to a beneficiary is 5 million lei, of which up to 30% can be a grant. Loans are provided at a fixed interest rate of 5.1% per annum and can be used to purchase agricultural equipment, invest in post-harvest processing, and other relevant operational activities. Beneficiaries can also access financial guarantees through a guarantee fund managed by the Organization for the Development of Enterprises (ODA). The Agricultural Lending Program offers favorable financing terms for the modernization of agricultural activities and the sustainable development of small businesses in the sector, contributing to increased competitiveness and productivity in agriculture.// 17.04.2026 — InfoMarket.
