Moldovan authorities will help mitigate the negative impact of rising diesel and fertilizer prices on agricultural activity
This was announced by Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Ludmila Catlabuga. In the context of the impact of the Middle East conflict on international markets, she presented tools that can be more quickly implemented to reduce the burden on farmers during the spring season. These include reimbursement of excise taxes on diesel fuel and VAT. Legislative amendments to the VAT reimbursement have already been approved, and 129 applications have already been submitted this year under the adjusted mechanism for increasing farmers' liquidity. The Minister of Agriculture noted that diesel fuel stocks are monitored daily, and imports have increased over the past two days. According to preliminary data, farmers already have over 5,000 tons of diesel fuel, and with this amount they are trying to cover their needs for the first crops of the spring season. As Ludmila Catlabuga emphasized, at the same time, in the context of rising fertilizer prices, options are being explored to help reduce the negative impact on agricultural activities. // 01.04.2026 — InfoMarket
