Moldova intends to widely implement innovative and climate-optimized farming methods - the Ministry of Agriculture
According to the Ministry, representatives of our country's delegation made this announcement during their participation in the 44th session of the European Commission on Agriculture (ECA44), organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Budapest (Hungary) on October 2-3. The event dedicated to the topic of balancing productivity and sustainability in driving agri-food systems transformation brought together representatives of European and Central Asian countries to discuss solutions for adapting agriculture to new climatic, economic, and geopolitical challenges. During the session, the Moldovan delegation reaffirmed the country's commitment to developing sustainable and resilient agri-food systems in line with the European agenda. Moldovan representatives noted that the country's agriculture is facing unprecedented challenges caused by climate change, including severe droughts over the past three years and the consequences of the war in Ukraine. Small farmers, who form the backbone of Moldovan agriculture, need targeted support to meet these challenges and remain competitive in both domestic and international markets. The Moldovan government is promoting an ambitious reform program aimed at compliance with EU legislation and supports the widespread adoption of innovative and climate-optimized farming practices, such as sustainable soil and water management. Moldovan representatives expressed their gratitude to the FAO and European partners for their continued support for the transformation of the national agriculture sector, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation, the exchange of best practices, and institutional capacity building. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Moldova's participation in ECA44 is part of the country's ongoing efforts to promote modern agriculture based on knowledge, innovation, and sustainable development, in line with the four goals promoted by FAO: improving production, improving nutrition, improving the environment, and improving lives for all. // 06.10.2025 — InfoMarket
