Moldova hosts for the first time the prestigious Concours Mondial de Bruxelles - Sparkling Wines Session international wine contest
According to the National Office of Vine and Wine (ONVV), from September 5 to 7, 54 international jury members, including 3 Masters of Wine, will taste more than 1,000 sparkling wines from 29 countries in Chisinau. The most outstanding wines will receive gold and silver medals – a guarantee of internationally recognized quality. “This premiere is more than just a competition; it confirms the maturity of Moldovan wine and positions Moldovan wine as Unexpectedly Great on the international map of premium wines,” ONVV noted. Earlier it was reported that Moldova will become a world center for sparkling wines and for three days Chisinau will host one of the most prestigious international wine competitions for the first time - Concours Mondial de Bruxelles. This event is organized with the support of ONVV, the institution responsible for the international promotion of the country's wine brand “Wine of Moldova.” ONVV Director Stefan Iamandi noted that the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles is an international wine competition whose goal is to provide consumers around the world with reliable information about quality wines. At the same time, the competition supports winemakers who want to export their products and strengthen their presence in foreign markets. “For Moldovan winemakers, this event is a strategic platform for increasing awareness and promoting new export markets. Holding the competition in Chisinau is recognition of the maturity and quality of Moldovan wine, as well as confirmation of its deserved place in the international wine world,” Stefan Iamandi emphasized. During the prestigious Concours Mondial de Bruxelles - Sparkling Wines Session in Chisinau, guests will be able to visit a number of wineries throughout the country - Castel Mimi, Purcari, Cricova, Mileștii Mici, Mircești, EtCetera, Chateau Vartely, and Rădăcini, where they can enjoy wine pairing sessions and tours of tourist complexes. In the eyes of the international wine community, hosting such a competition signifies recognition of the maturity of the local wine sector and is an important step in strengthening Moldova's position as a competitive producer in the global market. Hosting the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles in Chisinau will have a long-term economic and tourism impact, ensuring the visibility of wine producers in international markets and stimulating wine tourism. The Concours Mondial de Bruxelles has a history of more than 30 years, and one of its distinctive features is that it is not only held in Belgium, which is why more than 20 countries with wine-producing potential have hosted it in recent years. The contest includes a tasting of the wines submitted with only about 30% of them receiving awards, which maintains the value of the awards. The rigorous evaluation process ensures that quality is the only factor that counts. Medals awarded at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles are recognized internationally and can influence consumer decisions around the world. // 05.09.2025 — InfoMarket
