
The government approved the procedure of distributing 100 million lei to corn and wheat producers affected by drought and heat waves
The regulation refers to the partial compensation of farmers' losses as a result of extreme weather conditions, within the 100 million lei allocated from the intervention fund. According to the regulation, the compensation will be granted to farmers whose drought and heat damaged at least 60 per cent of the corn crop and at least 70 per cent of the wheat crop. The maximum amount of compensation cannot exceed the sum of 500 thousand lei per 1 applicant. At the same time, it is stipulated that the maximum amount of financial assistance provided in 2024 to 1 applicant, including from the assistance allocated for partial compensation of damage for the previous year, should not exceed 1 million lei. Agrarians whose farmland is located within the access of irrigation systems in the service area of the centralized irrigation system, as well as beneficiaries of subsidized insurance will not be eligible for assistance. Potential beneficiaries must submit a report on the damage caused to agricultural crops as a result of extraordinary natural disasters, statistical reports, and have a bank account.
