Moldova will modernize irrigation systems and provide support to intensive agricultural enterprises.
Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vladimir Bolea stated this during a meeting with the Vice-President of the World Bank for Europe and Central Asia Antonella Bassani. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the parties touched upon a number of important topics for the development of agriculture in Moldova. Vladimir Bolea emphasized the importance of irrigation, especially in the south of Moldova, where drought seriously affects the harvest. He emphasized that investment in irrigation systems is necessary to ensure the sustainability of agricultural production and overcome extreme climatic conditions. Another aspect discussed was the development of value chains. Vladimir Bolea emphasized that the modernization of irrigation systems and support for enterprises engaged in intensive agriculture will have a great impact on the development of value chains in agriculture. According to the head of the Ministry of Agriculture, these measures will allow farmers to increase productivity and offer higher quality products to the market. Thus, the competitiveness of Moldovan agriculture will significantly increase, which will facilitate the access of Moldovan crops to the EU market, where the requirements and quality standards are high. // 09.07.2024 - InfoMarket
