Moldova announces the second call for grants under the AGGRI program for sheep and goat farms specializing in milk and/or meat production.

Moldova announces the second call for grants under the AGGRI program for sheep and goat farms specializing in milk and/or meat production.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, applications will be accepted from May 20 to August 2. The maximum grant amount can be up to $1 million, provided that the amount does not exceed 50% of the cost of eligible investments. The money can be used to build and modernize livestock farms, equip them with the latest technologies, and purchase breeding animals. Funds are also available for energy efficiency of farms, including the introduction of renewable energy technologies (biogas plants and photovoltaic panels). In order to benefit from the grants, producers must meet the following conditions: be registered and operate in the territory controlled by the Moldovan authorities, except for the municipalities of Chisinau and Balti; be legal owners of the assets subject to the grant incentives, with a lease or loan term of at least 5 years; have a viable long-term business plan; contribute at least 50% of the investment subproject cost. Dossiers can be submitted to the territorial offices of the Agency for Intervention and Payments in Agriculture (AIPA). As previously reported by InfoMarket, the Agriculture, Governance, Growth and Resilience Investment (AGGRI) program was launched on December 19, 2023 and is funded by the World Bank. About $55 million will be invested in the development of Moldova's agricultural sector until 2029. During this period, farmers are expected to receive $21 million in grants to stimulate initiatives to promote and develop the livestock sector. Among the main objectives of the AGGRI project are: revitalization of the livestock sector, rehabilitation of irrigation systems, and strengthening of public services for farmers. In particular, the revitalization of the livestock sector is planned to be carried out by investing in the modernization of livestock farms, which will increase milk and meat production, thereby helping to meet domestic demand and increase farmers' incomes in this sector. The AGGRI project encourages the construction or modernization of livestock farms, equipping them with modern technologies and purchasing breeding animals. In addition, financing is provided to improve the energy efficiency of farms, including the introduction of technologies such as biogas plants and photovoltaic panels. The AGGRI project provides grants of up to $1 million to develop livestock farms, equip them with the latest technologies and purchase breeding animals. // 16.05.2024 - InfoMarket.
