
Agro SZM is the second agricultural enterprise in Moldova by the size of farmland with an indicator of 13.4 thousand hectares.
As noted in the company’s statement, in particular, the area of Agro SZM farmland in 2024 exceeded 13.4 thousand hectares, which makes this agricultural enterprise the second largest agricultural area in Moldova. In 2007, Agro SZM began by cultivating 6 thousand hectares. The company enters into long-term land lease agreements, which allows for land reclamation and significantly increasing the yield of crops grown. Agro SZM fields are located in Ungheni, Falesti, Drochia, Donduseni and Ocnita districts. Agro SZM forms a beet crop rotation within which optimal predecessors are selected that ensure maximum quality and yield of sugar beets, the area of which in 2024 exceeded 3.2 thousand hectares. The largest area is occupied by winter wheat - more than 7.1 thousand hectares, sunflower - 1.47 thousand hectares, corn - 1.35 thousand hectares, soybeans - 0.27 thousand hectares. Agro-SZM grows most crops using resource-saving technologies of conservation agriculture. The agricultural enterprise develops advanced agricultural technologies, especially in the field of growing sugar beets, the yield, which in recent years amounted to 42-53 t/ha, which is significantly higher than the average for the corresponding raw material zones of Südzucker Moldova.
