Moldova and Hungary will strengthen cooperation in the agricultural sector.
This is provided for in a memorandum of understanding, which was signed on April 4 by the heads of the ministries of agriculture of the two countries, Vladimir Bolea and Istvan Nagy. Through this agreement, the parties intend to expand and facilitate the exchange of knowledge, experience and technical expertise, thereby contributing to the achievement of the economic and social development goals of Moldova. Over the next 5 years, Moldova and Hungary will exchange knowledge and experience related to the EU integration process, promote sustainable agricultural practices, support organic production, strengthen research efforts and expand commercial relations. The document also provides for the integration of Hungarian companies in the development of the “Moldavian Farm” program, which provides a solid basis for mutually beneficial growth and development of the agricultural sector. The goal of this collaboration is to improve the efficiency and sustainability of farms in Moldova, as well as stimulate innovation and adoption of best agricultural practices. As Vladimir Bolea noted, this initiative is an important step in strengthening the ties of friendship between the countries and emphasizes the common commitment to promoting sustainable development in the agricultural sector. The Ministry of Agriculture clarified that the signing of the memorandum is a good signal for the 44 economic agents from Hungary already working in Moldova and those who will invest in Moldova in the future. The Hungarian minister, in turn, noted that the memorandum is intended to confirm and ensure the stability of relations between the two countries. He also assured that Hungary will provide support in the process of Moldova's accession to the EU. Istvan Nagy invited his colleague to take part in the event on the transfer of the EU presidency to Hungary, starting on July 1, where the Moldovan side will have the opportunity to inform the 27 ministers of agriculture about the situation in the agri-food sector of Moldova, the problems and expectations of farmers. The ministers of the two countries also visited a livestock farm that imported breeding animals from Hungary. There they got acquainted with the conditions of keeping and feeding the animals.// 04.04.2024 — InfoMarket
