Moldova extends for another 3 months licensing of wheat, corn and sunflower seeds import.

Moldova extends for another 3 months licensing of wheat, corn and sunflower seeds import.

According to the press service of the Government, this decision was adopted by the Commission for Emergency Situations in order to maintain an economically stable price for local grain products on the domestic market. Thus, the import of wheat, corn and sunflower seeds to Moldova will still be allowed only on the basis of a license issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry. An application for an import license may be submitted by a legal entity or an individual engaged in the production of oils and fats, flour-milling products, preparations for feeding or raising farm animals. The requests will be considered by the commission created by the Ministry of Agriculture. As InfoMarket reported earlier, licensing of import of such cereals as wheat, corn, sunflower seeds was introduced in Moldova temporarily from October 4, 2023 in order to stabilize prices in the domestic market of cereals, because following the war in Ukraine the market of cereals suffered a lot as far as prices are concerned. Due to the expiration of the state of emergency regime at the end of December 2023, the Commission for Emergency Situations adopted a separate decision on December 27 to introduce import licensing of wheat, corn and sunflower seeds in the country for a period of 3 months. // 26.03.2024 - InfoMarket.
