The testing phase of Farmers’ Register has started in Moldova.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry reported that this comprehensive information system on farmers from Moldova and their agricultural activities was developed by the agency with the support of UNDP Moldova and the Government of Japan, as part of the ongoing efforts to modernize the agricultural sector. The main objective of the Farmers' Register is to create a digital database that will meet the needs of both farmers and the government in the development of evidence-based agricultural policies and the real needs of farmers. During the testing phase, a selected number of agricultural producers from Briceni, Donduseni, Edinet, Floresti, Ocnita, Hincesti, Ialoveni, Nisporeni, Orhei, Telenesti, Cahul, Cantemir, Causeni, Cimislia and Taraclia districts will be contacted in person or by phone through delegated specialists. They will ask specific questions to collect the information needed to complete the register. The collected information will later be sent to AIPA for official registration. Farmers are asked to provide the following data: personal data (name, INDO/INDP, contact details), location of farmland (cadastral number), number of people cultivating the land or raising animals, type of crops harvested, type and number of animals raised, etc. In addition to data collection, workshops will be organized in the specified areas to inform farmers about the benefits and functions of the register. The schedule is available on the website: https://registrulfermierului.gov.md/seminar_md.html. The Farmers' Register to be created will be a reference resource for harmonizing national legislation with EU standards in agriculture and implementing an integrated system of national management and control in agriculture, acting as the main tool for monitoring the management of public money. Also, the development of a digital and efficient management system for Moldova's agricultural sector is a requirement of the European Union in the process of Moldova's accession to the EU. // 23.02.2024 - InfoMarket.
