A list of farmers affected by the crisis in 2022 who will receive government assistance has been published.

A list of farmers affected by the crisis in 2022 who will receive government assistance has been published.

During a briefing on Tuesday, State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Șarban said that after an analysis, 2,192 applications received from farmers were found acceptable for the provision of anti-crisis assistance. A one-time payment, which is intended to partially cover the costs incurred, will be provided to producers of grain crops of the first group (wheat, barley, oats, triticale). The amount of assistance is calculated based on the area sown with crops of the first group and their categorization coefficient. Vasile Șarban clarified that the Ministry of Agriculture gives priority to supporting micro, small and medium-sized agricultural enterprises that cultivate crops on an area of up to 100 hectares - the highest coefficient is provided for them. According to him, based on the applications received, 200 million lei allocated by the government for anti-crisis assistance will be distributed among farmers who cultivate wheat (193 thousand hectares), barley (25 thousand hectares), oats (190 hectares), triticale ( 394 hectares). At the same time, the list of potential beneficiaries includes only 99 farmers who cultivate crops on an area of 1 thousand to 1.5 thousand hectares, the rest - on an area of up to 1 thousand hectares. For example, applications of 837 farmers with an area of up to 100 hectares, 667 farmers with an area of 101 to 300 hectares, and 372 farmers with an area of 301 to 600 hectares were approved. According to him, 11 applications were also received from farmers who cultivate grains of the first group on an area of more than 1.5 thousand hectares, but they were rejected. A preliminary list of potential beneficiaries can be viewed on the Agricultural Intervention and Payments Agency (AIPA) website and is considered a public notice to all applicants. If the farmer does not agree with the previously calculated acceptable area, he/she can contact AIPA within 5 days to clarify all the circumstances. If potential beneficiaries do not respond to AIPA's public notice, this will be considered as their acquiescence and the designated area will be taken as the basis for calculating the financial amount per beneficiary. The maximum amount of assistance cannot exceed 400 thousand lei per applicant.
