As noted, according to preliminary estimates, in January-September 2023, compared with the corresponding period in 2022, gross crop production in farms of all categories (agricultural enterprises, peasant farms and household farms increased by 46 .1%, and livestock production decreased by 4.2%. According to the NBS, in particular, in the third quarter of 2023, compared with the corresponding quarter of the previous year, agricultural production in Moldova increased by 36.1%, including crop products - increased by 47.8%, and livestock products - decreased by 7.8%. The share of agricultural products received in the third quarter of 2023 in the total volume of agricultural products received for 9 months of the year is 82.1% (the share of the third quarter of 2022 in all products for 9 months of 2022 was 76.9%). As noted in the NBS, if we talk about crop production, the current year’s harvest, compared to last year, is characterized by a significant increase in the gross harvest of agricultural crops, especially grains. According to preliminary estimates, the gross harvest of grain and leguminous crops (excluding corn) in farms of all categories amounted to about 1 million 802 thousand tons (76% more than in the same period last year), of which the wheat harvest amounted to about 1 million 515 thousand t (+77%), barley – 238 thousand tons (+80%), legumes – 37 thousand tons (+41%). The progress of harvesting in agricultural enterprises and peasant farms with an area of agricultural land of 50 hectares and above indicates an increase in the average yield of main crops, with the exception of potatoes. In particular, according to the NBS, the average yield of grains and legumes in Moldova in January-September 2023 totaled 40.5 c/ha (+61.4% compared to the same period in 2022). Herewith, the average yield of wheat was 41.2 c/ha (+61.6%), barley – 41 c/ha (+66.7%), grain legumes in general – 19.1 c/ha (+17.9 %), corn - 29.6 c/ha (+74.1%). The average yield of sunflower was 19.2 c/ha (+38.1%), sugar beet – 385.4 c/ha (an increase of 2.8 times), rapeseed – 25.5 c/ha (+11.9% ), soybeans - 13.6 c/ha (+33.3%), potatoes - 174.7 c/ha (-14.4%), vegetables - 166.8 c/ha (+30%), pome fruits – 151.2 c/ha (+7.1%), stone fruits – 84.5 c/ha (+29.8%), grapes – 80.1 c/ha (+5.4%). According to official statistics, in livestock farming, the raising of livestock and poultry (in live weight) in farms of all categories in January-September 2023, compared to January-September 2022, decreased by 4.5% - to 130 thousand tons. The reduction in the indicator was caused by a decrease in production, both in households by 5.5% - to 60.3 thousand tons, and in agricultural enterprises - by 3.6% - to 69.7 thousand tons. According to official statistics, milk production in general, decreased by 0.1% - to 221.4 thousand tons. Meanwhile, at agricultural enterprises it increased by 16% - to 33.4 thousand tons, and in households it decreased by 2.5% - to 188 thousand tons.
