Starting October 4, Moldova introduces licensing of imports of a number of grain crops: wheat, corn, sunflower seeds.
Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Vladimir Bolea announced this at a briefing on Wednesday, noting that the decision to introduce licensing of imports of some types of cereals was approved on October 4 by the Commission for Emergency Situations in order to stabilize prices on the domestic market of cereals. The head of the Agriculture Ministry drew attention to the fact that after the outbreak of war in Ukraine, the grain market has suffered a lot in terms of prices, and this situation has been observed for the last 1.5 years. Therefore, in order to stabilize the prices on the domestic market, the above-mentioned measures were taken in the interests of Moldovan agrarians, processors and producers. The head of the Agriculture Ministry said that, by the decision of the Commission for Emergency Situations, in order to maintain stable prices for the domestic wheat, corn and sunflower seeds on the domestic grain market, it was established that, apart from the legislation in force, the import of these goods during the state of emergency in the country is carried out only on the basis of a license from the Agriculture Ministry. It is stipulated that this license will be available to legal entities and individuals engaged in the production of fats and oils, flour products, preparations for animal fodder on farms, animal breeding. Applications for licenses must be accompanied by documents justifying the need to replenish the stock. Applications will be considered by a special commission of representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, the National Agency for Food Safety and specialized associations. Vladimir Bolea noted that the agrarian department will develop and submit in the coming days the Regulations on the functioning of the mentioned commission on licensing grain imports. "The mentioned measures are taken in our national interests, agrarians, farmers, domestic producers and processors with one goal - to stabilize the market and prices for agricultural products. These are temporary measures," the head of the Ministry of Agriculture said. // 04.10.2023 - InfoMarket.
