Moldova exported 76 thousand tons of table grapes in 2022, and since the beginning of 2023, almost 6 thousand tons have already been delivered to the EU and CIS markets.
This was announced by the Ministry of Agriculture, noting that this was discussed during a meeting of the Advisory Council, which was attended by producers and exporters of table grapes and the leadership of the agricultural department. The main topics of discussion were increasing the yield and quality of table grapes, the need to introduce advanced technologies for its cultivation, diversifying sales markets and obtaining higher incomes. To determine priorities for 2023, the parties analyzed the dynamics of the development of the wine sector and the evolution of table grape exports. President of the Association of Grape Producers and Exporters of Moldova (APESM) Gheorghe Gaberi noted that currently there are about 3,000 tons of table grapes in cold stores. According to him, about 76 thousand tons were exported in 2022, and since the beginning of 2023, about 6 thousand tons have been delivered to the EU and CIS markets. More than 100 thousand tons of table grapes are produced in our country annually. This year, producers are aiming to become more competitive and pay more attention to the choice of grape varieties and the adaptation of their vineyards to local growing conditions. Currently, out of 13,000 hectares of table grapes, about 8,000 hectares are planted with the Moldova variety, and only about 100 hectares are occupied by vineyards under the Pergola system, which ensures higher quality and yield. The head of the Ministry of Agriculture, Vladimir Bolea, called on producers to unite and invest in efficient systems, noting that winegrowers who want to modernize their business will receive full support through subsidy mechanisms. // 15.02.2023 — InfoMarket
