Since March 7, ANSA will temporarily enhance control over certain products of non-animal origin at the border, which are imported from a number of countries.

According to the press service of the agency, on February 8, the ANSA director general issued an order approving the Regulation on the temporary strengthening of official control and emergency measures governing the import of certain goods to Moldova from several countries. The document includes a list of food products and animal feed of non-animal origin from 28 countries, which will be subject to more thorough control at the border. This list of goods is based on an analysis of the risks of harmful substances (pesticide residues, parasites, etc.) in products. They include lemons, grapefruit, peppers, dried oregano from Turkey, peanuts from the United States, nuts from Georgia, Argentina, Azerbaijan, etc. The economic agents-suppliers of such products will fill out a declaration of personal responsibility, and the ANSA units at the border posts will conduct physical inspection of the goods, taking samples for analysis. The results of the analyses will be transmitted to the ANSA territorial subdivisions, in the radius of which the warehouse of the economic entities is located, which will monitor the placement on the market of goods subjected to examination and which were authorized for import. The order will take effect on March 7. Importers of products affected by the new regulation must notify their suppliers of the need to provide for each batch of food and feed the results of samples and analyses conducted by the competent authorities of the country of origin or the country of supply. Each batch of products must be accompanied by an official certificate, in accordance with the established pattern. The ANSA specifies that the order is approved in the context of the application of EU best practices with regard to border control. This will ensure a more efficient inspection of imported goods, and only safe and harmless products will be placed on the market. // 09.02.2023 - InfoMarket.
