Compensations to agricultural producers for excise duty on diesel fuel may be increased.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry worked out draft amendments to the Government Decision on the approval of the National Fund for Agricultural and Rural Development for partial compensation of excise duty on diesel fuel used by agricultural producers in 2022. According to the main provisions, micro, small and medium producers will receive a 100% compensation of excise duty on diesel fuel (2980 lei per ton), while large agricultural producers will receive a 30% compensation (894 lei per ton). Excise tax compensation for diesel fuel will be provided based on invoices starting January 1, 2022. The maximum amount of compensation is proposed at 200 thousand lei (annually per beneficiary). It is proposed that the National Fund for Agriculture and Rural Development will allocate 320 million lei for this purpose, and the financial resources will be distributed through AIPA. It should be noted that in the previous project the ceiling was 100 thousand lei, and the total amount allocated for compensation of excises for diesel fuel amounted to 200 million lei. It will be possible to apply for compensation throughout 2022, but no more than one application per semester or per year. The deadline for submitting documents for the first half of this year may be extended until July 31, 2022. Moreover, agricultural producers who have already applied for the compensation of excise duty on diesel fuel will already be able to submit an additional application or supplement the already submitted documents with invoices for diesel fuel purchased in the period from January 1 to April 28, 2022.
