The purchase price of Russian natural gas for Moldovagaz in April 2022 may exceed $1,000 per 1,000 cubic meters.
Vadim Ceban, Chairman of the Board of Moldovagaz, told journalists about this, noting that there are several reasons for such a record price increase. In particular, it is known that in April the formula for calculating the purchase price of gas will change, and if in the 1st and 4th quarters of each year 70% of the price depends on the cost of oil basket goods, and 30% - on market prices for gas, then in the 2nd and 3rd quarters , that is, from April to September, the inverse formula is used, and the cost of gas is made up of 70% of the average monthly gas price for the previous month (TTF front month) and 30% of the price of the oil basket. At the same time, due to the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, gas prices in Europe renewed their historical highs in early March, and the historical price record at TTF, Europe's key gas hub, was set at auction on March 7, amounting to $3,892 per 1,000 cubic meters. Since then, gas prices have declined significantly, but not enough to offset the abnormal growth at the beginning of the month. Now gas prices in Europe exceed $1,100 per 1,000 cubic meters. The head of "Moldovagaz" acknowledged that the price of gas in Europe is declining, but it is difficult to imagine what the decline should be in order to cover the jump in prices at the beginning of March. In addition, he drew attention to the fact that oil prices have increased by 15-20% since the beginning of the armed conflict in Ukraine. Vadim Ceban said that, despite a significant increase in gas prices, Moldovagaz will not rush to demand an increase in the tariff for end consumers, and the company expects that the price of gas on European markets will decrease in April and May. As previously reported, the purchase price for Russian natural gas for Moldovagaz in March will be $547.26 per 1,000 cubic meters. In January, it amounted to $646 per 1,000 cubic meters, and in February - $563 per 1 thousand cubic meters. The current gas tariff for end consumers includes an average natural gas purchase price of $620.1 per 1,000 cubic meters. //22.03.2022 — InfoMarket.
