Moldova will receive a grant of $3.1 million from the World Bank for the development of sustainable agriculture.

For this purpose, an Agreement was signed between the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry of Moldova and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) within the framework of the "Moldova Agriculture Competitiveness Project" (MAC-P). Thanks to the agreement, agricultural producers investing in environmentally friendly farming methods and technologies - no / low-till equipment, mulching equipment, agroforestry - will be able to receive financial assistance. At the same time, the agreement provides for the restoration of 2,000 hectares of forest shelter belts in the Raut river basin in the northern region of the country, where soil degradation has reached significant proportions. The grant agreement is the fourth additional funding for the Moldova Agriculture Competitiveness Project (MAC-P) and aims to expand activities to promote the use of sustainable land management practices, promote knowledge and integrate good practices, and implement measures of soil protection and conservation. The grant agreement will enter into force upon completion of all procedures stipulated by national legislation. The implementation period is December 31, 2024. // 16.12.2021 - InfoMarket.
