Agrarians of Moldova can receive from IFAD new grants for adaptation to climate change in agriculture in the amount of up to $ 5 thousand for small farmers and up to $15 thousand for agricultural cooperatives.

These grants will be provided to them under the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) Rural Resilience Project. The project was designed to improve the living conditions of the rural population, reduce poverty by increasing resilience to climate change and improving economic opportunities. To achieve these goals, agricultural producers will be provided with financial support in the form of grants to implement initiatives to adapt to climate change in agricultural activities. The beneficiaries of grants can be registered enterprises of any organizational and legal form or registered by individuals (farms or individual enterprises) engaged in agricultural activities or processing of agricultural products in rural areas of Moldova, with the exception of enterprises operating in Chisinau and Balti. At the same time, enterprises registered in Chisinau and Balti, but having branches or carrying out agricultural activities in rural areas, will also be admitted to the grant program. Potential beneficiaries must meet the following conditions: keep accounting of all transactions and operations carried out in accordance with applicable law; have at least one year of work experience in this field; the total area of land owned and / or leased by them should not exceed 25 hectares; not have debts to the budget and have sufficient financial sources to ensure their own contribution, which is 70% of investment costs for individuals and 50% for cooperatives. Acceptance of applications for grants began on August 9 and will continue in 2022 until the depletion of financial resources.
