In 2025, Romania confirmed its status as Moldova's main trade and investment partner, with bilateral trade exceeding €3 billion and investments exceeding €35 million

This was discussed during a meeting in Chisinau between Moldovan Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and Romanian Foreign Minister Oana-Silvia Toiu. According to the Moldovan government's press service, the parties discussed the main results of bilateral cooperation this year and common priorities for the near future. Alexandru Munteanu expressed his gratitude for Romania's continued assistance, noting achievements in key areas: energy, education, economy, infrastructure, healthcare, and culture. It was noted that in 2025, Romania confirmed its status as Moldova's main trade and investment partner. Bilateral trade exceeded €3 billion, and Romanian investments in Moldova amounted to approximately €35 million. The Vulcanesti-Chisinau power line, connecting Moldova to the Romanian energy system, is expected to be commissioned soon. It was emphasized that Romania, as always, responded promptly and in solidarity, helping Moldova maintain the stability of its national power system after the intensification of Russian attacks on infrastructure in Ukraine. At the same time, progress was noted in the construction of the bridge at Ungheni, aimed at improving transport links between Moldova and Romania and promoting the integration of the Republic of Moldova into the European transport network. The officials discussed cooperation priorities for the coming period, with an emphasis on continuing strategic projects and developing new joint initiatives for the benefit of the citizens of Moldova and Romania. The Moldovan Prime Minister praised Romania's active role in supporting Moldova's European path, including through technical and financial assistance. “The relations between Moldova and Romania are strategic, deep, and irreversible. We continue to count on Romania's support and solidarity on Moldova's European path,” Alexandru Munteanu emphasized. // 22.12.2025 – InfoMarket.
