Moldova will become a regional fintech hub in the future - the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization
This was announced by Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Doina Nistor, who noted that fintech is no longer a niche industry but a driving force of the modern economy. According to her, more than 30 fintech companies are already operating in the Moldova Innovation Technology Park, including Fagura and Salt Edge—brands that have put our country on the digital map of Europe. As the Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization emphasized, the next step is full integration into the single European digital market: SEPA compatibility for faster payments, implementation of PSD3 and Open Finance standards, ensuring cyber resilience through DORA, and the launch of a Fintech Sandbox for banks and startups. "The goal is clear: Chisinau must become the regional capital of digital payments, where a businessman from Bălți can receive a payment from Berlin or Milan in a matter of seconds." "Fintech isn't just about technology, it's also about the ability to send money to loved ones in seconds, transparency in government relations, and the chance for a Moldovan startup to become the next European unicorn," said Doina Nistor. A unicorn company is a startup with a market valuation of over $1 billion.// 03.10.2025 – InfoMarket.
