The Moldovan government is closely monitoring the situation on global energy markets and is seeking balanced solutions to support farmers within the limits of the budget
This was announced by the Cabinet in response to an appeal by the Forta Fermierilor Association (Farmers' Power Association) to the government to provide support in the form of access to wholesale fuel prices and the resumption of excise duty refunds on diesel fuel. The Association sent a letter to the authorities pointing out the risks to Moldova's agricultural sector due to the expected rise in fuel prices against the backdrop of the international crisis and tensions in the Middle East. The Moldovan government stressed that it is closely monitoring the situation on global energy markets in the context of concerns expressed by agricultural producers. The authorities assure that the agricultural sector remains a strategic priority, but emphasize the need for solutions that do not jeopardize the state budget. “We are maintaining an ongoing dialogue with relevant organizations to assess the available options and identify balanced solutions within the limits of the budget's real possibilities,” the government said in a statement. The authorities are emphasizing a cautious approach, avoiding promises of large-scale subsidies that could create economic risks in the medium term. “Our priority is to act responsibly to maintain economic stability and support vulnerable sectors without creating additional risks,” the government said. To clarify the areas of possible intervention, the ministers responsible for the economic and agricultural sectors are expected to make official statements tomorrow, before the government meeting. // 03.03.2026 – InfoMarket.
