Chisinau Airport ranked first in passenger traffic growth among medium-sized European airports in the first half of 2025
The administration of the capital's airport reported this, citing data from the ACI Europe report on air traffic dynamics. According to the latest report published by ACI Europe, the first six months of 2025 saw a 4.5% increase in passenger traffic at European airports compared to the same period last year. At the same time, while major aviation markets such as Italy (+5.7%), Spain (+4.5%), and France (+3.6%) experienced steady growth, Moldova exceeded all expectations and in the first half of 2025, passenger traffic grew by 49.2%, putting it in first place in terms of passenger traffic growth among medium-sized European airports with an annual traffic of 1 to 10 million passengers. “This result highlights the strategic role that Chisinau Airport plays in the European air transport network,” stated the capital's airport administration. They specified that this growth in passenger traffic is the result of several factors: the continuous expansion of the network of direct flights to European cities, growing passenger interest in fast and affordable connections, and the strengthening of the airport's position as a regional hub and Moldova's main air gateway. ACI Europe - Airports Council International Europe - represents more than 600 airports in 55 European countries, accounting for more than 95% of Europe's commercial air traffic. // 10.09.2025 - InfoMarket.
