The works on the construction of the Chisinau-Straseni-Calarasi main water pipeline will be recognized as a project of national importance.

This is provided for by the relevant draft law, which was adopted by the Parliament in the first reading. In particular, the document proclaims the public utility of the works on construction of the main water pipeline Chisinau-Straseni-Calarasi within the project "Improvement of water infrastructure in central Moldova". The above mentioned 53 km long water main will ensure supply of quality drinking water to all residents of Straseni and Calarasi districts. To construct the aqueduct Chisinau-Straseni-Calarasi, 90 land plots owned by local authorities, 15 plots owned by the central government and 103 privately owned plots will be expropriated under a special procedure. It is agreed that the government will pay compensation for the expropriation of property rights, as well as rights of use or other rights to real estate at the expense of the state budget. The project "Improvement of water infrastructure in central Moldova" is financed by the German government through the state bank Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW). The total cost of the project is about 27.65 million euros, of which 25 million is a grant from the German government and 2.65 million is a contribution guaranteed by the Moldovan government through the National Fund for Regional and Local Development. The implementation of the project will provide access to drinking water to about 170 thousand inhabitants of the Straseni and Calarasi districts settlements. The main water pipeline should be built by October 30, 2025. // 07.10.2022 - InfoMarket
