
The 33rd Maria Bieșu International Opera and Ballet Festival kicked off in Chișinău
This year, the festival is dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the prima donna of the National Opera. Renowned artists from the national opera and 20 special guests from 12 countries will perform on the stage of the National Opera and Ballet Theatre. The event opened yesterday with Giuseppe Verdi's opera Un ballo in maschera, which premiered in Chisinau in 1987. The festival also includes five performances: the ballet Don Quixote (September 18), the opera Eugene Onegin (September 21), the opera L'elisir d'amore (September 25), the ballet Romeo and Juliet (September 28), the opera Turandot, and a gala evening (October 5).
